How do I book in?

The best way to book in is to send us a message on Instagram or Facebook, or an email to hello@deadgoodtattoo.co.uk to request our booking form.

How much will my tattoo cost?

This entirely depends on your desired design, placement and size. For the most accurate quote, have a think about what you’d like, including finding reference images for the style and design you’d like, and consider the placement and size of the desired piece.

I have health conditions, can I still get tattooed?

If you are unsure about a health condition you have, we always recommend consulting with your doctor before getting tattooed. As long as your medical professional is happy for you to do so, we can tattoo you.

Do you do piercings?

We are strictly a tattoo studio and do not offer piercings.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

You can purchase vouchers of any amount instore. Alternatively we can send you a digital voucher to be printed at home to be paid for by bank transfer to:

Do tattoos hurt?

Pain varies for everyone, most people are pleasantly surprised by how little their tattoos hurt. Certain areas of the body are more painful, for example ribs, stomach, knees. If you are unsure about pain tolerance, we recommend starting with arms or legs for a first tattoo, as these are relatively easy places to get tattooed.

When will I see my design before my appointment?

Your artist will send over your design via email or social media the day before your appointment. Feel free to ask for any changes or adjustments when you receive the design, and these can still be made on the day of the appointment if needed but the sooner the artist knows the better.

What should I do before my appointment?

In the days before your appointment, we recommend moisturising the area you are going to have tattooed.

On the day, make sure you have showered, eaten a good meal, and arrive on time with a snack and a drink.

Should I arrive early?

If you arrive early you are free to wait at the studio if there is space, but please be advised that your artist will be ready at your booked appointment time, and turning up earlier will not guarantee an earlier start.

What should I wear for my tattoo?

Please wear clothing in which we can easily access the area that will be tattooed. For example, loose fitting trousers that can be rolled up are much better than jeans for a leg tattoo.

Can you copy a design I have found online?

Due to copyright laws, we cannot copy other artists’ tattoos or any designs which are clearly the work of an artist. We can however redraw a similar design in the style of our artists.

I have scars I’d like covering, can you do this?

We can cover scars and work with you to disguise the scars within the design in the best way possible. We cannot however tattoo scars that are less than three years old, and any that are still red, as it is very important they are fully healed before being tattooed.

What aftercare should I use?

We provide extensive aftercare advice in our section here and will provide you with cream to use whilst healing your tattoo.

What if I my tattoo needs a touch-up?

We offer the first touch up for free, please book in with us for this. We recommend waiting at least 4 weeks before booking in for a touch up to ensure that your tattoo has fully healed.

Should I shave before my appointment?

We will shave the area to be tattooed but if you would prefer to do this yourself or have already shaved, then please let us know so we do not shave you twice and risk giving you a shaving rash.

Can I use numbing cream?

If you wish to use numbing cream then always tell your artist that you have used a numbing cream, as this can affect the tattoo process so it’s important that they know.

We would recommend going without if you can, as the vast majority of people are fine without and are always pleasantly surprised at the level of pain they experience compared to what they’re expecting.

Is it okay to get a tattoo if I’m sick?

Please let us know if you are unwell on the day of your appointment. We would always recommend rescheduling if you are under the weather, as getting tattooed is taxing to the body, and can exacerbate any existing illness.

Do you take walk-ins?

We do take walk-ins but this depends on our availability on the day. Walk-ins are with our apprentice artists and are limited to simple designs, for example outlines or text, or predawn flash which we have available to browse in the shop.

Do I need to bring ID?

If you are under 25, please bring ID with you as if we are unsure of your age legally we are required to ID you. The legal age requirement to be tattooed is 18.

Do you do cover ups?

Cover ups are a very difficult and specific area of tattooing. We would always strongly recommend you booking in for a consultation to see if a cover up is possible for your existing tattoo.

Can I reschedule my appointment?

You can reschedule your appointment if necessary. If you give us 48 hours notice then we can reschedule your appointment, but if less notice than this is given then you will be required to repay the booking fee. If it is the second time rescheduling your appointment, we would also have to retake the booking fee.

Can I have a consultation before booking in?

Yes, we offer consultations for free, where you will have the chance to have a chat with the artist about any ideas you have. You will need to book in for a consultation, see the booking in section above about how best to do this.

If you are interested in getting a larger piece, for example a full sleeve tattoo or a cover up, we will always have a consultation with you first, in order to properly plan out your idea.

What do I need to bring with me on the day?

We would recommend you bringing a drink and food with you. We also prefer cash for payment, as we are a small business which gets charged a high percentage on card payments, so if possible please always bring cash for your appointment.

Can I bring a friend?

You are welcome to bring someone with you on the day of the appointment but please be aware we are a small studio and space is limited. We would also recommend not bringing in children with you for your appointment as it is not a child-friendly environment, and please be aware any under 16s cannot be left unsupervised in the studio.

Are you wheelchair friendly?

We are wheelchair accessible but we do not have wheelchair friendly toilets. The nearest accessible toilets are at Asda which is five minutes around the corner from us.

What’s your minimum charge?

Our minimum charge for our apprentices is £40, and for our senior artists is £50.

Can you tattoo me under the influence of drink or drugs?

It would not be safe or ethical for us to tattoo anyone under the influence of substances.

I’m unsure what to get as a tattoo, what should I do?

All our artists have lots of pre-drawn designs available - feel free to pop into the studio to have a look through their books.

Tattoos are permanent so we would always recommend waiting until you are 100% sure about a design before booking in. If you’d like to chat through your ideas, feel free to book in a free consultation with us and our artists can you give you the best recommendations.

Can I get a tattoo if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Unfortunately not. You would need to wait until you are no longer pregnant or you had finished breastfeeding before booking in.
